Fr. Brian Walker, OP breaks open the readings for the Fourth Sunday of Easter, Good Shepherd Sunday, reminding us that as Christians, we are all called to shepherd one another. Sometimes that can be unpleasant, or dirty, or smelly, but is is also rewarding and where we find our salvation.

Our Gospel today is the First Breakfast of the Resurrection, where Jesus offers Peter a chance to renew his love and begin again. In the resurrection, we have each been given the gift of new life. Let us open ourselves to that miracle today.

The Easter Season is a time to revel in amazement at the resurrection and new life. Like the disciples when they first experienced the resurrection, may your mind be opened to all that God promises us.

In the Gospel, Jesus speaks of the tax collector who prayed, "Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner." That is the prayer that gets through to God. May we be as honest and aware to be able to ask God for the mercy we need so that we might be healed as well.

The greatest commandment is to affirm that God is One. Christians, being children of the One God, need to remember that God is always there for us, and is the same God that is always there for everyone.

Fr. Brian Walker, OP breaks open the readings for the Second Sunday of Lent, the sacrifice of Abraham and the Transfiguration, which challenge us to see the violence in our world and in ourselves, and work to change our hearts so that the world might be healed.

Jesus called the twelve because he needed their special talents to further his mission. The call continues. Why and to what is God calling each of us?

Jesus healed the crowds, but kept a boat close by in case the crowd became threatening. Are we looking for a miracle cure from Jesus, or are we looking to be healed from the grip of sin?

In the Magnificat, Mary says, "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord." We could acclaim that every day id we could perceive the graces given to us in each new day.

In the Visitation, when Elizabeth sees Mary, she says, "Blessed are you." Mary was indeed blessed because she trusted God. We are called to trust God, and can be blessed in that as well.

Fr. Brian Walker, OP opens up the readings for the First Sunday of Advent, reminding us not to rush to thoughts of Christmas , but instead, ask ourselves how we need to change to prepare for Christmas, so that we might recognize God's coming in the face of others who are different than us.
