Fr. Don Goergen, OP

On this Feast of our Holy Father Dominic, we remember the words of the Prophet Isaiah (52:7):

How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who announces peace,
who brings good news,
who announces salvation,
who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’,

While these certainly apply to St. Dominic, given the needs of our present day, all of us should hear God asking us to answer this call, to proclaim to a weary world that our God reigns.

The Prophet Jeremiah offers the people hope that, despite everything, God still loves them with an everlasting love. Do you need to take that message more to heart? Do you need to take that message to someone you know who has lost hope?

Fr. Donald Goergen, OP breaks open the readings for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ, explaining how the Holy Spirit transforms the bread and wine on the altar into the body and blood of Christ, in order to transform us, as we receive it, so that we can leave Mass being more Christ-like than when we came.

Fr. Don Goergen, OP, in his last Word of Hope before he takes a sabbatical, pulls at some of the tangled connections between faith and politics. We need to make political decisions based on our faith, but should not allow the Church to dictate political decisions. Complicated? Yes, but important to ponder.

Speaking of Jesus as "the stone which the builders rejected", Fr. Don Goergen, OP advises us all that we should seek living a life of integrity over seeking the approval of others.

Fr. Donald Goergen, OP breaks open the readings for the Sixth Sunday of Easter, which let us know that the reason for our hope is the gift of the Holy Spirit that lives within. Since this Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, let us not despair that we can live the truth, and rededicate ourselves to be people of truth.
