Br. Terrence Bullock, OP
Br. Terrence Thomas Bullock, O.P., 89, died January 1, 2025. Br. Terrence was born December 6, 1935, to George and Margaret (Farrell) Bullock in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Elm Grove, Wisconin (1941-1949) and Pius XI High School in Milwaukee (1950-1954). After graduation, he entered the Dominican Order as a postulant on August 22, 1954, and received the habit and religious name Terrence on February 21, 1955. He professed first vows on February 22, 1956, and was assigned to St. Rose Priory in Dubuque, IA, and served as porter and maintenance man until 1959. He next ministered at St. Dominic Priory and Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL, until 1963 as porter, maintenance man, chauffer, and assistant syndic. Br. Terrence professed solemn vows at St. Dominic Priory on February 22, 1962.
From 1963 to 1980 Br. Terrence’s ministry was at St. Vincent Ferrer Parish and Priory in River Forest, Illinois. He was playground director, sacristan, director of servers, and maintenance man. From 1980 to 1990, he was a bus driver for Fenwick High School and St. Luke Parish in River Forest. Br. Terrence then returned to the town of his birth and the schools he attended. At Pius XI in Milwaukee, he was transportation coordinator and, in 2007, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Br. Terrence retired in 2008 and moved to Blessed Sacrament Priory in Madison, WI. He volunteered at Blessed Sacrament School, played the organ at Durward’s Glen Retreat Center twice a week and for summer camps at Camp Gray, and volunteered as a train conductor at Little America Amusement Park and at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum. Br. Terrence is especially remembered for his love of trains and jolly laughter. In October of 2021, declining health necessitated his move to St. Pius V Priory in Chicago, IL. Br. Terrence suffered a stroke in the summer of 2024 and eventually moved to Generations Care Center.
Br. Terrence's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 7, at 11:00 AM at St. Pius V Parish, 1901 S. Ashland Ave., Chicago preceded by Office of the Dead at 10:30 AM.
