Yes You Can: Retreat@Home
“But, I can’t get to a retreat!”
OH, YES YOU CAN!!
Thanks to the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Albert the Great,
Each Thursday evening of Lent 2021, Dominican preachers you have come to know through our Know Before You Go and A Word of Hope video series, will lead a Retreat@Home.
Through this unique six-Thursday-nights-of-Lent retreat, we will guide you on a faith journey into the depths of your spirituality.
Focusing squarely on the upcoming Sunday Gospels, friars preachers will provide historical background information and thoughtful reflections to help bridge the gap between our minds and the Biblical minds of centuries ago. Our host will then lead us in a Q & A period.
We will meet virtually, each Lenten Thursday, using Microsoft Teams Live Meeting. You can download the software, but it is easier to just use a browser such as Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Edge and log in anonymously. Each session will be approximately a half-hour in length and will be recorded and posted for later viewing.
Please sign-up here so that we know how many people to expect.
This year, let’s deepen our faith through the Gospels of Lent. Join us, please, at the Dominican Retreat@Home.
Past meetings can be viewed here.
The meeting is at 7pm CST. We will send out an email at 5pm with a clickable link to join the meeting. We will open the meeting 15 minutes early so that, if you think you might have a problem, you can connect early and we have time to work it out.
Here is some information about controls available during the meeting. There are some icons that look a little different depending on what program you are using to connect to the meeting. Here is what they look like on my computer:
On my computer they are in the upper right corner of the window. On my phone, they appear when I touch the screen. The most important button is the the one that looks like two overlapping cartoon speech bubbles with a question mark on them. This lets you see the Question and Answer section. Any time during the presentation you can type in a question. The moderators will review the questions, post them, and then ask them to the presenter during the Q&A part of the retreat. This Q&A is your only way to communicate with the presenter and moderators during the meeting.
