Fr. Dominic Holtz, OP, named Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Angelicum
Fr. Gerard Timoner, OP, Master of the Order and Grand Chancellor of the Angelicum in Rome (The Pontifical University of St. Thomas), has appointed our own Fr. Dominic Holtz, OP as the next Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. Fr. Holtz will begin his term of office on 1 September 2023.
Dominic Mark Holtz, O.P., is a friar of the Province of St. Albert the Great (USA) and has been teaching at the Angelicum in the Faculty of Philosophy since 2010. Before entering the Order of Preachers, Holtz studied at McGill University (Montréal, Canada) and at the Medieval Institute of the University of Notre Dame (Notre Dame, USA), and was Professor of Medieval Theology at the Department of Theological Studies of Saint Louis University (St. Louis, USA). During and after his initial formation in the Order, Holtz was a professor at the Aquinas Institute of Theology (St. Louis, USA), teaching courses in Thomistic thought and Church history. Since arriving in Rome, Holtz has served the Convent of Sts Dominic and Sixtus as sub-prior, and the university community on the Academic Senate and Economic Council, as well as serving as chaplain to English-speaking students, director of the university choir, director of the Catholic studies programme, a term as editor of the Angelicum magazine, and most recently as vice dean of the Faculty of Philosophy.
