A Dominican friar of the Province of St. Albert the Great, Father James Cornelius Hahn, O.P. died Saturday, November 8, 2008, after a prolonged illness. Born on July 4, 1937, the son of the late William Patrick and Adelaide Irene (nee Olden), he is survived by his sister Patricia Welch of Dover, Delaware, and by a niece, a nephew, and cousins. Father Hahn was professed a Dominican in 1958 and ordained a priest in 1964. He served in numerous ministries, including provincial secretary for the Eastern Dominican Province, parochial vicar, speech therapist, instructor in communications, theology, and homiletics, Director of the Shrine of St. Jude and for many years as an itinerant preacher. The Office of the Dead and Mass of Christian Burial were celebrated at St. Pius V Church, Chicago, Illinois, on Wednesday, November 12th, 2008.
