Brother Vincent was born on the sacred soil of Madrid, Spain (homeland of St. Dominic), but moved to the United States at six years of age and spent most of his life in lovely Fishers, IN. He went to Purdue University where he studied Mechanical Engineering, and it was at the Newman Center there that he first encountered Dominicans. Falling in love with their commitment to preach the Gospel to the ends of the world, Br. Vincent couldn’t help but join this band of preachers right after graduating from Purdue in 2010. As he continues his formation, he hopes to continue to do the things he loves: spending time with his family and friends, traveling, occasionally being a nerdy engineer–but above all else, he hopes to come to know God ever more intimately, in prayer and in loving and serving his brothers and the people of God, hopefully one day as a priest.

Why did you choose to join the Dominicans? I met the friars at Purdue University as a student and became enamored with the Dominican mission (preaching for the salvation of souls!) and way of life (marked by a strong contemplative life, rigorous study, communal living, readiness for the mission through poverty and itinerancy, a history of social justice work)–it brought together everything I was looking for, and more importantly seemed the best place to come to love God more deeply and serve His people. At the end of the day, it is my vocation: it is where God has called me, and where I have happily followed.
